Vijay Diwas observed in Mangaluru

Mangaluru Dec 16, 2016:  In memory of the victory of the Indian military over Pakistan in 1971 that resulted in the liberation of Bangladesh, Vijay Diwas was observed by the citizens at Kadri War memorial on Friday December 16th and tributes were paid to the martyrs on the occasion.

The ceremony was organized by DK District Ex-Servicemen’s Association Mangalore under the aegis of Lions Clubs international, District 317 D and Shashthavu Sri Bhoothanateshwara Temple trust.

Speaking on the occasion City Police Commissioner M Chandra Shekar said  that every nation has its history which has to be remembered and December 16th 1971 is one such day which we should never forget. Victory comes from sacrifices and several men sacrificed their lives for the victory of the nation. Apart from wreath laying we should also respect the sacrifices of the families of the soldiers who laid their lives, he added

Superintendent of Police Bhushan Gulabrao Borase said that, since 1947 several soldiers sacrificed their lives. The supreme sacrifice is by the family members of the martyrs. "Job does not get over by wreath laying but also it is a duty of every citizens to sacrifice in one or the other way for the country,’ he said.

President of DK District Ex Servicemen’s Association Colonel N Sharath Bhandary, Vijaynath Vittal Shetty and others were present.
