Vigilante attack near Ullal : Youth brutally assaulted

Mangaluru, Jan 12, 2015 :  In a shocking case of vigilante attack  at Korangipalla near Ullal on January 11, Sunday, a young man from Boliyar  was  brutally assaulted by a group belonging to another community. Sources said the  assaulters were angry with the youth just because he was friendly  with a Muslim girl.

The victim is Padmanabha who owns a mobile recharge shop in the nearby area. The incident occurred when Padmanabha was  on way to attend a marriage. He was intercepted by  some people  who  attacked him with lethal weapons. It is learnt, some locals who tried to intervene were also assaulted.

The accused have been identified as Habeeb, Ashraf, Basheer, Aboobakker, Siraj, Nissar and two others. Sources say they were involved in  criminal activities in the area since some time.
The injured Padmanabha has been admitted to a private hospital in the city. Konaje police are investigating the case.
