Mangaluru, Jan 09, 2018: Concerned by the social disturbances in Dakshina Kannada and districts, and the harmony in chaos in repeated incidents, In a media release, Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari D Veerendra Heggade has called for dialogue between communities to sort out issues and avoid undue confrontations.

Veerendra Hegg...The Dharmadhikari said that there was loss of lives due to violence  unrest prevailing in the coastal region for the last few days. The feelings of mistrust and hatred are seen among people who are basically peace-loving, he has regretted.

He said some recent developments are shocking as the differences of opinion, which have led to the violence, could have actually been sorted out through talks. Such acts of violence are not accepted by any religion. Therefore, people from various religions should treat each other well, he stated.

Citing the examples of persons from other communities who gave a helping hand in rushing the critically injured persons to the hospital during the brutal attacks, Heggade said that the gestures by the good Samaritans show that humanity alone should be in the fore and not religion, caste or community.

Provoked feelings and decisions made out of hastiness will destabilise the tranquillity in the society. Therefore, one has to shun the feeling of vengeance and do away with witch-hunting to respect the real ‘Dharma’ or righteousness, he said.

Meanwhile, social media has been rife with messages of communal amity. One person wrote: This is supposed to be a land of the intelligent. Stop fighting. Please understand that if something untoward happens it is not the politicians who will come to your help, but your neighbor, who is from a different religion. The government will wash of its hands by doling out compensation, but does it know the value of a life? Some sociopaths create mayhem on the social media. Have you ever seen anybody wanting blood from a donor from a particular community? Has any Hindu not felt joy when Zaheer Khan won match for India or any Muslim not felt sad when Rahul Dravid hits a century but lost the match? Do you watch movies according to the actor’s religion? Please be humans first, the message urged.

A sonnet written by Jaleel Mukri ’wanted a cadaver’ on the present situation in the also received many plaudits. Jaleel Mukri, is an NRI working in Saudi Arabia. The sonnet reflects the somber mood saying that politicians wanted a cadaver during polls - does not matter whether a Hindu or a Muslim- to make people forget about their poll promises.

Also, the elders, parents, brothers and sisters in the family should talk among themselves about maintaining peace and spread the feeling of solidarity. Especially, the youths should cultivate the qualities of perseverance and patience, Heggade said and added that the differences between people should be forgotten to re-instill hope in the region, in the place of suspicion and fear.
