Vedike president Suresh Bhat Bakrabail said the murder of Kalburgi is a pre-planned barbaric criminal act. "Stringent punishment needs to be awarded not only to those who executed the crime, but also on organizations behind the crime. If organisations are involved in the incident, then such groups should be banned," Bhat said.

"Considering the previous instances of protest and life threats against Kalburgi, it is evident that the writer is a target of saffron organizations. Further, the tweet by Bajrang Dal worker Bhuvith Shetty too makes the argument more strong. Hence, we request the police to arrest all the accused and those conspirators behind the act," Bhat said.
