Mangaluru Nov 3, 2016: Various organization of Mangaluru have urged the government to establish a High Court circuit bench in Mangaluru so that the economically backward can have access to judiciary.
Addressing media at Hotel Janatha Deluxe on Thursday, November , Founder of Namma Mane Namma Ooru BS Chandru said that at present for higher appeals at the High Court, the people in Mangaluru need to go to Bengaluru which is a costly affair. The establishment of a circuit bench in Mangaluru can avoid expensive trips to Bengaluru for litigation purposes, he added.
He further said that a Circuit Bench in Mangaluru would also be of great help to the people of Udupi, Uttar Kannada, Chikkamagaluru and Kodagu districts too.
On October 22, a memorandum has been submitted to the Governor, Chief Minister, Law Minister and Local MPs and MLAs demanding HC Circuit Bench for Mangaluru, he said and lauded the Bar Association for its support to the cause.
In support of the demand, a first phase of protest will be staged in front of DC office, second phase of protest will be in front of Party office and finally a protest will be staged in front of the residences of local MPs and MLAs, Chandru informed.
Namma Mane Namma Ooru, Prajavikasa Trust, Canara Gas and Allied Workers Association, DK Taximen’s Association, Nagarika Hitarakshana Samithi, Mulki and other five organizations have supported this cause.
Prajavikasa President Dharmendra, President of Karnataka Raitha Andolana Samithi Vijay Kumar Hegde and others were present.
