Mangaluru, Sep 01, 2016: The nationwide general strike call given by various trade unions in support of several of their demands, has received widespread support even in Dakshina Kannada district where several trade unions and organisations have backed the bundh call.
As even government and private bus employees associations and auto driver associations have pledged support, the bundh is likely to affect normal life in the district. Even the traders organisations have supported the bundh call and shops and business establishments too are expected to be shut down.
Speaking to reporters here on Wednesday, CITU leader Vasanth Achary said the DK units of CITU, AITUC, INTUC, AICCT and other organisations have supported the bundh which will be observed peacefully from 6 am to 6 pm. Already, bank, insurance, railway, telecom, postal, state and Central government employees have supported the bundh.
