Mangaluru, Oct 27, 2015 : Speaking at the ground breaking ceremony of Billava Hostel, in Mangaluru,  Member of Parliament, Nalin Kumar Kateel, terming the value based education, the need of the hour, called upon the educational institutions to provide education, without too much importance to commercial focus.

MP Kateel The MP said providing education alone cannot fulfill one’s obligations towards society but one has to take care  to educate students on moral values of life. Dakshina Kannada is perhaps the only district which has 18 engineering colleges, nine medical colleges, 14 polytechnic institutes and 150 degree colleges.

But, when it comes to value based education, it seems we  have a long way to go.

Narayanaguru, one of the revolutionary leaders of the country, had exhorted moral education and had called upon the people to grow independent, attaining education. It is easy to quote his messages, but difficult to follow. One can pay true respect to him by practising his ideals.

MP Kateel further said that the efforts to confine Narayanaguru to a particular community is wrong. It is true that Narayanaguru was the voice of the downtrodden. But, he was also a spiritual leader who yearned for equality and worked to build a civilized society ensuring dignified life for the downtrodden and the underprivileged.

The MP announced that he will release Rs 20 lakh for the Billava hostel in Kunjatbail.  MP and AICC General Secretary B K Hariprasad performed the ground breaking.  Akhila Bharata Billava Union president Navinchandra D Suvarna, Bahrain Billavas president Rajkumar and Urban Cooperative Bank Chairman H T Poojary were present.
