Mangaluru, August 5, 2018: Valiant queen Abbakka is a symbol of self-respect, said U T Khader State Minister for Housing and Urban Development.

He was speaking after unveiling the logo of Veera Rani Abbakka Rashtriya Pratishtana at a  ceremony held at Town Hall on August 4, Saturday. Khader informed that a sum of Rs 10 lakh would be released for the construction of Veera Rani Abbakka Circle at Ullal. Abbakka should be the symbol of the culture of the land, he added.

Earlier, Mangaluru South MLA Vedavyasa Kamath inaugurated the programme.

The  Rani Abbakka Seva Award was presented on the occasion to veteran social worker Suvasini Babbukatte by Dr BA Viveka Rai, former Vice Chancellor of  Kannada University Hampi.

MLCs Bhoje Gowda, Ivan D’Souza, Pratishtana Chairman Harikrishna Punaroor,   General Secretary Bhasker Rai Kukkuvalli,  Tulu Academy President A C Bhandari, Konkani Academy President RP Naika, District Kannada Sahitya Parishat President Pradeep Kumar  Kalkura, ZP  President Meenakshi Shantigodu and others were present.
