Mangaluru, Oct 6,2016 : Ivan D’Souza, MLC and Chief Whip of State Legislative Council who visited the Fr. Muller Hospital on October 5, Wednesday and met 11 year old Vaishakh, the brave boy who valiantly fought against a python that curled over his body and was receiving treatment for bite injuries, congratulated the boy for his bravery and assured to recommend his name for the Bravery Award.
Ivan also honoured the boy by garlanding him and presenting him a shawl. He also interacted with Vaishakh’s mother Harinakshi Suresh, Dr Uday Kumar and Chief Nursing Superintendent Janet and enquired about Vaishakh’s health.
Ivan also assured to bear the treatment cost of Vaishakh. He is a fifth standard student in Adarsh English Medium School at Sajipa.
Vaishakh who hails from Kolake near Sajipa in Bantwal taluk was returning from his grandfather’s house when the python which was in the bushes fell over him. Vaishakh who showed extraordinary courage had hit the python’s face with a stone which he found nearby and forced it to flee. He was later rushed home by his cousin Harshitha who came there hearing his screams.
Python not poisonous : Meanwhile, Dr Uday Kumar who is treating Vaishakh informed that a python was not a venomous snake and that Vaishakh’s health was improving. He will be discharged from hospital in a couple of days, Dr Kumar said.
