VHP leader Jagadish Shenava booked for provocative speech

Mangaluru, Jan 31, 2018: VHP District President Jagadish Shenava who has kicked off a storm by literally defending the   murder of Abdul Basheer  which took place at Kottara Chowki on January 3, has been booked by the police.

A suo moto case has been filed against him under Sections 153 A and 116 of the IPC. Ananth Murdeshwar, SI of Mangaluru North Police Station is the complainant.

Participating in a  function  organised to release a book entitled "Hadedavvana Shaapa,"  Shenava said "An innocent Deepak Rao was killed. Basheer was murdered in retaliation to this  killing. We do not have any regret over Basheer murder. If Basheer is an innocent, is Deepak a murderer ?"

He said "I openly defend the incident as a VHP  president." "If innocent Hindus are killed to avenge one murder, why shouldn’t Basheer  not be murdered?’’ he further questioned.

The video of Shenava’s speech had  gone viral and has since been  condemned  by various organisations and political parties.
