VHP hopes to organise protest against cattle theft

Mangaluru, July 12, 2015 : Briefing media,  VHP Working President M B Puranik said that  the VHP will stage a protest meeting against increase in the theft of cattle and cattle trafficking in the coastal district, at Nehru Maidan in Mangaluru on July 13 at 4 pm, however now it is alleged that the police are yet to agree and extened permission.


M B PuranikHe said cow slaughter, theft of cattle, transporting cattle in an inhuman manner is being carried out across the district.


There are instances of cattle lifters stealing cattle from cow shed. Recently, cattle were stolen from a Balasamrakshana Kendra at Kutharpadavu. In spite of it, the police have failed to act against cattle lifters, he alleged.

Despite giving clue on the illegal transportation of cattle to the police, they are engaged in filing case against those who have filed a complaint. In spite of available information of theft of cattle at Charmadi, the police have failed to arrest the culprits. Puranik said there is a need to promote dairy farming in the district.


As a part of the protest, a rally will leave Udupi Krishna Mandira, Dharmasthala, Puttur Mahalingeshwara temple, Venkatramana temple in Moodbidri, Ram Bhajana Mandira in Talapady at 8 am. Cattle lovers will take out a jatha from various temples in Mangaluru at 2 pm and will reach the protest meeting at 4 pm, he added.
