Mangalore Today News Network

Mangaluru, May 26,2016: It is reported that  MCF, which closed down operation on May 7, produces around 3.8 lakh tonne urea per annum. The impact on supply may be felt  once the kharif season commences when the demand for urea increases.

mcfThe eight months of production stock stored in the warehouses is consumed during the kharif season.   The shutdown of Mangalore Chemicals and Fertilisers Ltd due to water scarcity may not have immediate impact on urea availability in the state, said director K Prabhakar Rao.

Mangalore based MCF supplies urea to markets in Karnataka, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra. As fertilizer is an essential commodity as per the Essential Commodities Act, the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilisers decides on movement plan of our product.

The MCF gets 2 MGD water from Thumbe vented dam and is the only company in state that manufactures urea, di-ammonium phosphate, NP 20:20:20:00:13, ammonium bicarbonate - food grade, sulphuric acid and products neded.
