Uppinangady : Farmer stabbed to death by masked assailants

Puttur, April 21, 2014 : In a shocking incident, a farmer stabbed to death right in front of the eyes of his wife and child, by three masked assailants who barged into their house near Kokkada in Kalanja village of Uppinangady  on April 19, Saturday midnight.

The deceased is Annayya Gowda (48). Gowda  stayed in the house along with his wife and three children. At the time of the incident, his two daughters were away at a relative’s house. Annayya, his wife Amitha and younger son Anush as usual had retired to bed after dinner. At around midnight the  couple heard someone dislodging the roof tiles. Annayya Gowda who woke up, opened the back door when three masked men entered and escaped after stabbing him.It is not yet clear as to what was the reason for the murder.

Uppinangady Circle Inspector and other police officials rushed to the spot.  A case has been registered in Uppinangady police station as per the complaint lodged by Amitha, wife of the deceased. She in her complaint said  her husband opened the door despite her request not to open the door. She said on seeing her husband collapse, she rushed to the neighbouring house with her child to inform about the incident.
