Uppinangady : Baby rescued in suspected case of child trafficking ; 3 arrested

Puttur, Nov 29, 2016 : Uppinangady police have arrested three youth who were found in possession of  a  two month old baby and had even secured a house on rent  at Perne village. The arrest was made on November 28, Monday after locals who saw the three youth with the baby, informed the police out of suspicion. It is suspected the three might be involved in child trafficking as they have failed to give satisfactory reply to the queries of the police.


UppinangadyThose arrested are  Siyab (24), Sameer (21) from Hirebandady and Muhammad Udaif (28) from  Bengaluru.   It has been gathered that the trio had the  hospital card  with birth details of the child. They also claimed that the mother of the child had been to her parental home in Nepal and that the baby’s father had asked them to take care of the baby.

Sources said the  trio came to the house which they had secured on rent in a car with Tamil Nadu registration number.

As per the hospital card in possession of the accused, the baby was born in Bengaluru   mentions the parents’  name as Jalaluddin and Karishma.

Accused Udaif also told that though the baby was first taken to a friend’s house it was decided to move out of the place  as relatives frequently visited the house.

But police have a  lot of doubts regarding the authenticity of the statements of the accused and are trying to find facts.

The baby has been entrusted to the care of an orphanage in Puttur. Investigations are in progress.
