He was addressing a public meet held at Uppinangady bus stand premises on October 11, Sunday night   after the Padayatra against the project reached the town.

Continuing, Nalin said the protest would continue till the state government decides to drop the project. He also assured the support of the BJP to all protests against the project.

Clarifying that neither he nor his party was against supplying water to other district, he said   instead of going in for such a project  steps could be taken to lift water from Varahi or by converting sea water into drinking water.

He also alleged that the Yettinahole project works were underway despite a Green Tribunal stay to the works.

Earlier, when the Padayatra team arrived in the town they were accorded a welcome near the Kumaradhara Bridge by Dr Niranjan Rai and others of the Anti-Netravathi River Diversion Committee.

Several BJP leaders including Pratap Simha Nayak, District BJP President, Krishna  J Palemar, former minister, Capt. Ganesh Karnik, MLC, Monappa Bhandari, former MLC, Rukmaya Poojary and others were present.
