Uppinangady: 800 kg beef transported in container lorry seized near Gundya

Uppinangady, Dec 09, 2019:    Uppinangady Police have seized a container lorry which was unauthorisedly transporting beef near Gundya in Shirady village on December 8, Sunday. Police have seized 800 kg of beef. One person who was in the vehicle has been arrested. The vehicle has also been seized.

The police who acted on a tip off,  intercepted the truck and  questioned its driver Rizwan who revealed that  the  beef was being  transported to Mangaluru to hand over to a person named Zulfikar. The driver also revealed that the cattle were slaughtered at Chennarayapatna to prepare the meat.

The value of the seized beef is estimated at Rs 2 lakhs.
