Uppinangady, Oct 29, 2018: Uppinangady Police have cracked the mystery behind the case of murder of notorious criminal of Kerala Unnikrishnan. It has now been gathered that another dreaded criminal from Kerala Anaas had masterminded the murder of Unnikrishnan as he feared that the latter was growing out of bounds.
It may be recalled here that Unnikrishnan’s body was found under a bridge Kuppetti in Uppinangady on September 1. Police have already arrested Anaas, his accomplices Aurangzeb (37), Mohammad Shanawaz (23), Jeethu Saji (23) and Suhail Saji (23) and Suhail Nazeer (22). All of them are now in judicial custody.
The accused Anaas along with another person Shabar was arrested by the National Investigation Agency once earlier for their alleged involvement in terror activities but were subsequently let off on bail a year and a half later. He was later absolved of charges while Shabar got lifer. Following this Anaas actively involved himself in extortion, something which Shabar used to do before he was arrested. He was also reportedly in close contact with many political parties.
It is said the slain Unnikrishnan too was in Anaas gang, but when Anaas began to fear that Unnikrishnan may supercede him, he eliminated him in a carefully planned act in Uppinangady.
