Union minister of state visits NMPT

Mangaluru, Aug 17, 2019: Union Minister of State for Shipping and Chemicals and Fertilisers Mansukh L Mandaviya visited New Mangalore Port on August 16, Friday and reviewed the performance of the port.

New Mangalore Port Trust (NMPT) Chairman A V Ramana briefed the minister on the infrastructure projects and other proposals for increasing the port’s productivity and sustain its reputation as the cleanest port in the country.

Minister Mandaviya interacted with key members of the major captive users of the port, including MRPL, KIOCL, MCF, IOCl, UPCL and Chettinad Mangalore Coal Private Limited.

While addressing members of the Stevedore agents, freight forwarders as well as the key associated government bodies, such as Customs, Immigration Departments, the minister favoured smooth transactions to promote the ease of doing business.

He promised all cooperation to boost the port’s business.  He lauded the port’s CSR activities aimed at improving hygiene in schools and ground table rejuvenation schemes, as they benefit the society directly.  He also applauded the port’s support to the distressed fishermen during the monsoon season.

He later interacted with the Gujarati community members in Mangaluru. The minster, accompanied by MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, visited Udupi Krishna temple.
