Puttur, March 29, 2016 : In what is suspected to be a case of murder, the body of an unidentified person was traced on the banks of River Netravathi near Halegutu in Uppinangady on March 27, Sunday.
The locals who first noticed the body with the face lying down informed the Uppinangady police. Examination of the body by forensic experts and police officials revealed that there were blood stains in the hands of the person and injury on the face.
The deceased is said to be around 45-50 years of age and was found wearing a white shirt with black lines and a brown trousers which was found pulled down.
Even a 180 ml liquor bottle was found nearby. A pair of Paragon slippers too was spotted a little away. Except for a cash of Rs 200 police could not find anything to know the identity of the man.
It is believed that the body was dumped in the area close by NH 75 after killing him at around midnight.
The body has been shifted to KS Hegde Hospital for a post-mortem. Investigations are underway.
