Mangaluru, June 22,2015 : The ferocious sea conditions with giant waves and strong winds that SW monsoon and other weather factors have precipitated are a serious cause for the panic in Mogaveerapatna Ullal sea shore.
The local residents are not convinced about the safety offered by the new project in progress.
The ADB pilot project worth near 240 crores using new system and stone walling the advance of the Sea seems to be crumbling. Sea erosion is curbed by huge by boulders along d Kotepura, Kaiko, Subhashnagar, and Hileriana. The early work at Mogaveerapatna does not seem good as the shore bumps are being swallowed into by the sea and causing high panic day in and day out. Breakwater provision at Bengre Estuary it is surmised is the basic cause for the sea erosion at Ullal.
Great loss is caused when houses are washed away rain is stalling the work and a loss is seen when barriers put up are lost to the waves. There is a lack of understanding between the contractors and locals. The people residing along the shore are unaware of the work pattern and contractors are not caring for the views of the people. The front of two houses are already washed away by the waves. Even after more than a year compensation is hanging afire.
