Udupi’s first Covid-19 patient fully recovers; to be discharged tomorrow

Udupi, April 11, 2020:   The first Corona positive patient from Udupi district, a 34 year old man from Manipal, has been completely cured and will be discharged from the hospital on Sunday, informed Udupi District Health and Family Welfare Officer Dr Sudhir Chandra Sooda.

The two separate throat swab samples of the patient collected on Monday and Wednesday have been tested negative following which it has been decided to discharge him from hospital, the officer said.

The throat swab samples of some corona suspects sent for test in the last two days have come out negative, Dr Sooda said.

Borders sealed

All the borders of Udupi district with Dakshina Kannada, Shivamogga and Chikkamagaluru have been completely sealed so that no one from the district can move out nor anyone else from outside can enter the district. The measure has been taken following information that  many from outside districts who are residing in Udupi are planning to leave  thinking lockdown will end on April 14.
