Udupi reports second Covid death

Udupi, June 20, 2020:   A 54-year-old Covid-19 positive patient died on Friday taking the death toll due to Covid-19 in the district to two.

The Covid-19 patient from Mumbai had visited Udupi on Thursday. Four more people had accompanied the Covid patient from Mumbai.

Udupi Deputy Commissioner G Jagadeesha said all were undergoing home quarantine. The man was tested on arrival and the samples had tested negative. But within hours after reaching home in Thekkate he collapsed and breathed his last.

His swab sample, however, tested positive to Covid-19 after the death. It is expected that the post mortem will reveal the exact cause of death.

The district reported 11 Covid cases on Friday and 231 swab samples were pending for results. As many as 950 patients had recovered and were discharged and 99 active cases were being treated in the designated Covid-19 hospital.
