Mangalore Today News Network

Udupi, Oct 03 2018: The Udupi Private City Bus Operators Association would be issuing monthly concession cards which would allow  passengers to travel on their normal routes multiple times a day.

City BusTalking to media, Nov 2,  Friday, Kuilady Suresh Nayak of the association said that the passengers going to their places of work daily and students going to the educational institutions could purchase these monthly Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) cards.

For instance, a person travelling from Udupi to Manipal now has to pay Rs. 9 per ticket. However, now he/she can purchase a monthly RFID card by paying Rs. 275 and travelling on that route any number of times.

So too, passengers can purchase these cards for other routes also. These passengers will have to travel on buses on which the board “CCB” was displayed, which meant “Combined City Bus.” The monthly card service was available in 45 out of a total of 78 buses from November 5 and would be extended to other buses in phases. The passengers without such cards will, however, have to pay the full price of the ticket.

There were complaints of ticket-less travel in private city buses. Hence ticket checking teams had been formed. Passengers should retain their tickets. They should demand tickets and register a complaint if any conductor was not giving tickets.

The phone numbers for complaints and suggestions had been displayed in the buses. They could also call the office of the association on Ph: 0820-2531437. Those interested in getting the monthly cards could approach the office of the association on the basement floor of Raj Towers, Near the City Bus Stand, Mr. Nayak said. Sudhakar Kalmady, Chandan, Krishna Anchan, office-bearers of the association, were present.
