Udupi minister says aim is to eradicate TB by 2025

Udupi, Mar 25, 2017: Pramod Madhwaraj, Minister of State for Fisheries, Youth Services and Sports, hailing from Udupi said on March 24,  Friday that India was aiming to become a ‘Tuberculosis-free country’ by 2025.


minister_1 Speaking after inaugurating the World TB Day function organised by the Department of Health and Family Welfare and other organisations here. The theme of this year’s TB Day is Unite to end TB, leave no one behind’.

Minister Madhwaraj said the World Health Organisation (WHO) was aiming to eradicate tuberculosis from the world by 2035.

Awareness about the disease, its early identification, and complete treatment helps in its cure. Tuberculosis is a communicable disease.  The government is providing free treatment to all cases diagnosed, he said.
