MLA Madhwaraj said that the State Cabinet had given approval to the proposal to construct the mini Vidhan Soudha, and would be cleared soon by the Revenue Department. The construction of the mini Vidhan Soudha entrusted to the Karnataka Housing Board would be completed in two years.

It would have ground floor and a first floor with a provision for future expansion. The mini Vidhan Soudha would house the Udupi Taluk Offices and the MLA’s Office and others as per need.

Further,  construction of a bridge between Shimbra near Manipal to Parari would be taken up at a cost of Rs. 10 crore. The work on the Neelavar-Kurady bridge was going on at a cost of Rs. 9 crore. The construction of the Shimbra bridge would reduce the distance between Uppoor and Manipal from about 15 kilometres to about two kilometres. It would also be beneficial to the people of Havanje and Perdoor.

The construction of the two bridges — Shimbra and Neelavar — would reduce the distance from the pilgrimage centre of Mandarti to Manipal from the present 40 kilometres to about 15 kilometres. Both these bridges would provide a parallel and alternative route to the crowded National Highway 66 in the district and improve road connectivity.

An amount of Rs. 120 crore had been sanctioned by the government for the construction of various concrete roads, bridges and government buildings in Udupi Assembly Constituency. There was scarcity of sand for the last couple of months and most of these works had come to a standstill.  Now sand extraction had resumed. All engineers need to expedite the works and complete them early.  Janardhan Tonse, Zilla Panchayat member, was also present.
