Udupi cops come to rescue of couple who faced opposition from family

Udupi, Dec 1, 2016 : In an interesting case, the personnel of the Women’s Police Station here  have succeeded in counselling a family which stood dead against the love marriage of their daughter and had forced  her to part ways from her husband.

 Gangadhar (29) and Yellamma (19)  from Hunagunda taluk in Bagalkot district   who were in love since four years had eloped and married seven months ago. Since then they have  been working for UPCL and staying at Padubidri. Though the boy’s family agreed to their marriage the girl’s family was unrelenting.

It is learnt, a few days ago the girl’s parents said they agreed for the marriage and when the girl arrived she was taken away forcibly. When the girl resisted, the locals who got hint of the same informed the police who managed to convince the girl’s family which has now left  for Bagalkot. The police  managed to  persuade the family by saying that the girl was a major and could take her own decisions.
