Udupi bids farewell to DC Hemalatha

Udupi, May 15: A farewell party was organized today in honor of DC P. Hemalatha, who will be relieved of her duties as the DC of Udupi on May 16.


Speaking on the occasion, Hemalatha said that she was willing to serve Udupi as its DC once again if given the opportunity. Stating that many people told her that she has no more new posts left to occupy since she has already served as the AC, DC, and CEO, she said that she can serve as the district-in-charge secretary. Hemalatha has already served as the Assistant Commissioner of Kundapur, the DC of Udupi, and the CEO of Udupi ZP.

Speaking in appreciation of Dr. V. S. Acharya, she said that the district never suffered any lack thanks to his efforts. She also thanked the residents of Karkala for voluntarily parting with their land for road widening projects.

Speaking about a software programme she had developed for e-seva at Kollur Shri Mookambika Temple to facilitate the booking of rooms in lodges run by the Temple as the executive head of the Kollur Temple Management Committee, she said that the software will soon be launched.

Dr. V. S. Acharya spoke on the occasion and praised Hemalatha’s simplicity, straightforwardness, honesty, social concern, and efficiency. He also said that the new district office complex, which has come up at End Point, will be inaugurated on Aug 19.

V. Ponnuraj, the husband of Hemalatha and DC of Shimoga; MLAs Lalaji R. Mendon and Raghupathi Bhat; MLC Kota Shrinivas Poojary; A. G. Kodgi, the chairman of the state Third Finance Commission Report Implementation Committee; SP Ravi Kumar; Kiran Kumar, the CMC president; Gokuldas Nayak, the commissioner; Sudhakar Shetty, the president of UUDA; and others were also present.

The Udupi District Working Journalists’ Association presented a bouquet to Mrs. Hemalatha.
