Udupi : Vittla Pindi celebrated with traditional pomp and glory

 Udupi, Aug 27, 2016: The Vittla Pindi celebrations were held at Sri Krishna Mutt  premises in Udupi on August 26, Friday with traditional pomp and glory.

Earlier in the day,  Sri Vishwesha Theertha Swamiji of Paryaya Pejawar Mutt and the junior seer Sri Vishwa Prasanna Theertha Swamiji offered prayers to Lord Krishna and Mukhya Prana followed by Anna Santharpane in the noon.

The grand Vittla Pindi procession   was taken out later on.  The idol of Lord Krishna was placed on a golden chariot while the Utsava Murthis of Lord Anantheshwara and Chandramauleshwara were placed in another chariot which were taken around. The celebrations were participated by the Pejawar seer, seers of Shiroor Mutt Sri Lakshmivara Theertha, Sri Vishwananda Theertha Swamiji of Bengaluru, Sri Vishwa Raja Theertha Swamij of Kshatriya Mutt among others.

The procession proceeded even as the  pots that were hung above using poles were broken by  people  wearing costumes of cowherds.

As is the tradition, prasadam was not  provided to  the devotees during the procession but was provided during the  Anna Santharpane in the noon.

The special attraction of this year’s Huli Vesha  was seven year old girl Disha who was part of the Huli Vesha team of Padubailuru Ishta Mahalingeshwara Temple.
