Udupi: Two college students drowned in Panjimar River near Pamboor

Udupi, Oct 11, 2015: Two college students drowned in the Panjimar river at Pamboor here on Sunday, October 11. The deceased have been identified as Austin Alva (18) and Ashwin D’Souza (19).

According to the sources eight youngsters had gone for swimming, while swimming Austin and Ashwin were dragged away by the strong currents. Other friends tried to rescue them but in vain.

The police, locals and fire personnel as well as expert swimmers carried out search operations and the bodies were retrieved from the river.

Austin was a I Bcom. student of SVS College, Katapady and Ashwin was the student of TMA Pai Polytechnic College.

Udupi District Incharge Minister Vinay Kumar Sorake visited the spot. A case has been registered in Shirva Police Station.
