Udupi, Nov 2, 2015 : Udupi-Chikkamagaluru MP Shobha Karandlaje has accused Chief Minister Siddaramaiah of making statements about beef eating only with an eye on the vote bank.
Speaking to reporters at the BJP office here on November 2, Monday, Shobha also charged the Chief Minister of trying to unduly appease the minority community while neglecting the interests of the majority community. While saying so she was apparently referring to the Prashanth Poojary murder case of Moodbidri.
Stating that there was no question of accepting such statements made by the Chief Minister, Shobha also urged the CM to withdraw his beef eating statement. "The government must stop appeasing any one particular community as it was voted to power by people of all communities," she added.
On the Prashanth Poojary murder case, Shobha alleged that the PDP and the KFD were conspiring against Hindutva activists and also charged the government of supporting the organisations.
Shobha even was highly critical of State Minister Abhayachandra Jain’s statement terming Prashanth as a ’trouble monger’ and accused the minister of trying to mislead the people.
Shobha refuted the minister’s statement that there were over 20 cases against Prashanth and said though the deceased had a few cases against him, there were no criminal cases. He was not a rowdy sheeter, she claimed and urged the minister to tender an apology to the family of Prashanth for his statement.
She further demanded that the CM clarify his government’s stand on ban on cattle slaughter.
