Udupi: Shiroor seer withdraws nomination

Udupi, Apr 27, 2018: Sri Lakshmivara Theertha Swamiji of Shiroor Mutt who had filed his nomination as an independent from Udupi Assembly Constituency has withdrawn his nomination on April 27, Friday. Interestingly, the seer was firm on his stand on  contesting the polls till the previous day.

In fact  the seer who was hoping for a BJP ticket had filed his nomination soon after the BJP fielded former MLA Raghupathi Bhat.

Giving reasons for his decision to withdraw his nomination, the seer said "Senior BJP Leaders appealed to me to  support them this time and also assured to heed to my advice in strengthening the BJP in the days to come."

Stating that he is always a supporter of Prime Minister Modi, the Shiroor seer said  he did not want Modi’s aims and objectives to suffer when he visited  Udupi. He  further said that the Udupi District BJP has responded positively to his demands.

He said he was withdrawing to pledge his support to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP President Amit  Shah.
