Udupi SP says policemen have not asked for leave today

Udupi, June 4, 2016: Udupi SP, Superintendent of Police Annamalai told media that policemen in the district have not given leave applications and every cop will be on duty on  June 4,Saturday.


Annamalai spThe SP’s statement comes in the wake of the proposed mass leave by police on June 4, Saturday to highlight the difficult working conditions of police personnel all over Karnataka and the poor pay.


The protest will not have any impact in Udupi district, he added.

However, some retired police personnel and some organisations have come forward to show their solidarity to the police in their endeavor. A memorandum will be submitted to the DC in support of their demands, it is learnt.

Some Demands  : Speaking to media a retired  police constable said the police should be treated on par with the policemen in the neighbouring states in terms of salaries and facilities. The orderly system of police constables working in the higher officials houses should be stopped. They should be given weekly offs and should be offered a day’s salary, he said.

The quarters offered to the police should be decent enough and be repaired regularly, he stated.   He added that at least 50% of the posts of PSIs and RSIs should be reserved for police constable on promotion.

The police personnel should be offered free travel facilities in all private, government buses and in railways 9may that should be on duty only), said Kumar. He stressed that the maternity leave for women police constables should be extended to nine months. The health insurance schemes enabling free health care service should be offered to the police personnel, he added. Aroghya Bhaghya scheme should be extended to the retired police personnel. They should not be suspended for silly and minor reasons.
