Udupi: RTO decides to reduce bus fares

Udupi, Feb 22, 2015: The Regional Transport Authority of Udupi has decided to reduce private bus fares in the district on the lines of Dakshina Kannada district. A decision was taken in this regard at the RTO meeting held on February 21, Saturday under the presidentship of Deputy Commissioner Dr Vishal.

In his address, the Deputy Commissioner said it has been decided to reduce the fares considering the reduction in  fuel prices in the recent times.

He also stated that bus operators have agreed to reduce fares and added the final decision would be taken once the administration receives a written statement from the bus operators in this regard.

The DC also stated that the bus operators had themselves appealed to reduce the fare a few days ago.

Representatives of bus operators association who spoke at the meeting said they have no objection for reduction in fares. The fares should be such that neither the bus owners incur loss nor the passengers feel the burden, they added.
