Udupi : Protesting Rakshana Vedike activists try to block NH; detained

Udupi, June 12, 2017: The Kannada Rakshana Vedike activists who tried to block the Highway at Udupi as part of a protest in connection with the Karnataka Bundh call given by pro-Kannada organisations on June 12, Monday, were  detained by the cops. The protest call has been given in support of the demand for permanent irrigation facility for plain land areas including Kolar and Chikkaballapur and also to waive loans of farmers in drought hit areas.

 The protest near the Clock Tower in Udupi  was organised by Harish Shetty faction of the Vedike. The protestors who were detained were later released.

Prasanna Kumar Shetty, State Convenor of the Vedike, Ansar Ahmed, Udupi District President and others participated in the protest.
