Udupi, July 2, 2017: The Sri Rama Sene and Hindu Jana Jagrithi Samithi protested near the Clock Tower on July 2, Sunday to condemn the Pejawar Swamiji for holding Iftar Koota and allowing Muslims to offer Namaz at the Krishna Mutt premises.
The activists staged a novel protest by singing bhajans and offering pooja to Lord Krishna at the venue. Mohan Bhat, Secretary of Mangaluru unit of Sri Rama Sene who addressed the protestors, said the pooja offered on the occasion was symbolic of the fact that the Iftar organised by the Pejawar seer has hurt Hindu sentiments.
Stating that they cannot stand against the Pejawar seer who was a Guru to the Hindu community, he said they were only against the holding of the Iftar in the Mutt premises. True harmony is possible when bhajans and Ugadi celebrations are held in mosques, he added.
Several Hindu leaders took part in the protest programme.
