Udupi: Police arrest HJV activist in connection with auto drivers stabbing case

Udupi , Jan 31, 2017 : Udupi police have been successful in arresting the accused in connection with stabbing two auto rickshaw drivers killing one of them on the spot on January 29 near Karavali Circle Udupi.

The accused arrested is identified as Ankit Shetty , Hindu Jagarana Vedike activist. He was basically from Mangaluru, had been to his wife’s house in Udupi.


According to sources, when Haneef was heading towards Karavali Circle from Nittoor he was reportedly on the wrong side of the road which was objected by the bike rider who intercepted the auto rickshaw. When there arouse an argument between the two, another driver joined Haneef. All of a sudden the bike rider who took out a knife which he had stabbed the two before fleeing.


Sources say that he had later pelted stone on the mosque. With the help of CCTV footage in the mosque premises police have arrested the accused.


Investigations are underway.
