Vishwesha Tirtha Swami of Pejawar Mutt will be ascending the ‘Paryaya Peetha’, also known as the ‘Sarvajna Peetha’ at the 800-year-old Sri Krishna Mutt, on January 18, 2016. It will be his fifth Paryaya.

The 84-year-old seer is expected to create history as no seer of the Ashta Mutts (or eight mutts) of Udupi has ascended the Paryaya Peetha for the fifth time, since the biennial Paryaya system was introduced in 1522 A.D.

A procession of devotees carried firewood from the entrance of the Pejawar Mutt to the place marked for the construction of the ‘Kattige Ratha’ or firewood chariot near the Madhwa Sarovara pond. Prayers were offered and rituals were conducted by the priests on the occasion.
