Udupi: POCSO court sentences two rapists to 20-year imprisonment

Udupi, July 10, 2020:    Additional District and Sessions Court (POCSO Special Court) sentenced Glenn Jeffry Mathias and Sohail M to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment and slapped a fine of Rs 60,000 on them for sexually assaulting a minor in Manipal in 2017.

 

Glenn Jeffry Mathias and Sohail M had lured the minor to Arbi falls near Manipal in June 2017, they made the minor consume alcohol and later sexually assaulted her in a lodge. The victim’s mother had filed a complaint against duo at Manipal police. The police had submitted the charge sheet against them in the court.

POCSO Judge Yadava Vanamala Annand Rao after hearing the arguments and counter arguments sentenced the duo to life imprisonment. Public Prosecutor Y T Raghavendra had argued on behalf of the government.
