Udupi : Orphan girl rescued from clutches of ’cruel’ aunt

Udupi, Dec 10, 2015:  Officials locals and human rights  activists have rescued a 17 year old orphan girl who was being  tortured by her aunt at her residence at Salikeri near Brahmavar.

It has been gathered that the girl who was being taken care of  by her aunt Girija ever since her parents expired when she was seven years old, used to harass nad torture her. She had once  even sprayed chilly powder on her eyes for the sole reason that the girl had gone to meet a friend.

It is learnt,  the girl had  contacted Srishtidhama  with the help of some neighbours when she gathered that her aunt was trying to get her married off.  Sources said the officials who had rushed to the house of Girija in order to rescue the girl had to face the brunt of some youth who were in the house and even tried to attack them.

The police intervention helped in rescuing the girl whose responsibility has now been taken up by Srishtidhama.

However, no police complaint has been registered so far.
