Udupi : Officials rescue child labourers employed to pick fish at Malpe port

Udupi, Sep 29, 2015:  As many as ten  children including eight girls who were working as child labourers were rescued  from the Malpe port area on September 29, Tuesday in a joint operation by various government departments. The children, it has been gathered were employed at the port to pick fish.

The raid followed a complaint from some locals.  The rescued girls were sent to the remand home at Nittoor and the boys have been  lodged at Vishwasada Mane.

HP Jnanesh, Udupi Labour officer, Jeevan Kumar, Labour Inspector, Prabhaker Achar, Project Director of District Child Labour Project Society,  officials of the  Department of Women and Child Welfare, representatives of  Spoorthi, Vishwasada Mane and BSW students of Tenkanidiyoor College participated in the operation.
