Udupi: Mystery shrouds death of young man

Udupi, Feb 03, 2015: A  man  hailing from Karkada near Saligrama has  been found dead  under suspicious circumstances on February 2, Monday.

The deceased is Vijay Karanth (31). The suspicion as of now is that he died due to  injuries he suffered due to an attack using a blunt object.  It is learnt, Vijay was married to Deepa three years ago but the couple had a strained relationship.

Sources said he was found on the roadside on Monday afternoon and a  neighbour Jalaja Poojarthi’s nephew Sharat on coming to know about this from his aunt, tried to help Vijay.

Vijay was later rushed to Manipal hospital, but enroute was taken to a private clinic where doctors pronounced him dead.

It is learnt his other members of the family were away on Monday. His father, a cook and his brother, a carpenter were out on work. Sources said Vijay being a good cricketer was a member of the  Karkada Cricket team and his team had won against the Udyavar team in a match held  earlier. It is learnt there was a party to celebrate the win on February 1, Sunday night where Vijay  had consumed too much of alcohol.

Sources say there were blood stains even in his house but the evidence wiped out before anyone could spot it.

Initially there were rumours that Vijay suffered a fall and died, later it turned out to be a murderous assault after an alleged fight.

Kota police are investigating the case.
