Udupi, March 2, 2017 : A protest was staged in front of the Udupi Deputy Commissioner’s office on March 1, Wednesday to condemn the recent incident of stoning at the Mudarangady mosque and to demand stern action against the perpetrators of the incident.
Addressing the protestors, Moidinabba, former president of the taluk unit of Udupi District Muslim Okkoota accused Bajrangdal leader from Mangaluru- Sharan Pumpwell of trying to disrupt harmony in the area. He also stated that the incidents like stone pelting at mosques brings in a sense of insecurity. He further deplored the granting of bail to the accused in the case.
Representatives of various Muslim organisations were part of the protest.
Later, a memorandum was submitted to Udupi Deputy Commissioner Priyanka Mary Francis.
