Udupi : More than 61,500 houses covered, social caste survey in Udupi

Udupi, April 21, 2015 : Speaking at a review meeting on the survey  at the Deputy Commissioner’s officeThe  Additional Deputy Commissioner Kumara, April 20 stated  that  61,514  houses had been covered under the social and education survey in Udupi district so far. 

Additional Deputy Commissioner KumaraHe went on to say  that this marked a progress of 23 per cent ever since the survey began here on April 11. The data entry of details collected during the survey could be expedited if the supervisors conducted verification meetings.

Earlier, M. Maheshwar Rao, District in-charge secretary, who chaired the meeting, said that the data collected during the survey should be proper and it was essential that the receiver signed the enumeration paper stating that all columns had been filled.

The survey would help the government formulate targeted welfare schemes and programmes. The enumerators could cover up to six houses in rural areas and 10 houses in urban areas daily for collecting details for the survey.

The enumerators could lodge a police complaint if they were abused or if persons refused to part with any information. The work of updating the information collected during the survey should be expedited in the district.   It was essential that the details collected were updated on the same day. The district administration should take the help of the Bharat Electronics Ltd. (BEL) for this purpose.
