Udupi: Missing person found dead

Udupi, Sep 12, 2016: John D’Silva (72) from Baikady Bhadragiri was reported  missing more than 3 months ago.  On Sept 11, A  skeleton of the deceased was found at Jathabettu near Uppoor, and it was determined to be the remains of the missing person.


John Dsilva John D’Silva had left his home to pay the telephone bill at Brahmavar on May 26. But he did not return home. His wife Leena D’Silva  complained to police about her missing husband. A search was launched by the family and police which did not yield any result.   On September 11, police got a call reporting a a skeleton at the forest in Jathabettu. Police, who went to the place, came to the conclusion that it was the skeleton of John D’silva based on the clothes and other evidenc.

It is now concluded that John D’Silva who had memory problems must have faced problems to know the right way to reach home.


He must have collapsed and died from then. There is also a possibility that wild animals could have hurt him, police sources said. Memory and dementia, depression episodes are rapidly becoming common among the eoderly particularly. It is essential that timely help is sort and care is extended by all concerned. September is ’Dementia and Alzheimer’ month.
