Udupi: MLA’s Rolls Royce ’Ghost’ creates hype, queries

Udupi, June 12, 2015: As per press reports,  Udupi MLA Pramod Madhwaraj,  has acquired a Rolls-Royce Ghost, a luxury saloon from Rolls-Royce Motor Cars. The owner of this prized possession is all set to create a lot of hype. He is the only politician on the coast to own the super luxury automobile. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

It may be recalled that  mining baron and former minister Gali Janardhana Reddy, known for his luxurious lifestyle had a collection of cars, including a Rolls Royce Phantom. Even in Mangaluru, the only Rolls Royce on the roads is a Phantom, owned by real estate magnate, making MLA Madhwaraj, 47, the only person in this part of the state to own the Ghost. But Phantom costs more than the Ghost, depending on the model. It is said that  the car may have  cost Madhwaraj around Rs 5.5 crore.

 

The cost (High Seas Sales (HSS) of the car is about Rs 1.66 crore while the import duty is Rs 2.89 crores. The total price of the car on road includes Rs 10 lakh insurance, Rs 90 lakh RTO registration fee, Rs 19 lakh PDI and service charges, 2.66 lakh service tax and Rs 2.22 lakh customs clearance charge.

MLA, Madhwaraj says has bought car with his hard earned money that is- from his business. He has a built a house in Udupi recently  coasting crores.The Income Tax people know the source of income better.

It seems it was his childhood dream to own one but did not pursue it much.  The Udupi MLA  told media that he wanted to buy a car. I got information that this car was readily available in Mumbai, so I bought it. Otherwise there’s a waiting period. 

MLA Madhwaraj, runs the Raj Fish Meal & Oil Co., the largest producers and exporters of fish meal and fish oil on the west coast, he took the wheel of the Ghost on june 11,  when he landed in Udupi. He mentioned the car will be chauffeur driven.  The Ghost augments the couple of high-end cars Madhwaraj owns, a Mercedes GL 350, Range Rover Vogue and Mitsubishi Montero.
