Udupi: MLA assures Udupi 24-hr power supply

Udupi, Oct 19, 2015:  Speaking to media  MLA Pramodh Madhwaraj that Udupi taluk,  would get power supply 24 hours, round the clock.   He said that he was least bothered over the expansion of coal-based  UPCL - Udupi Power Corporation Limited. He said he was not worried about the decision as it was company’s internal matters. However, the MLA said that he would be happy if the company reconsiders its decision regarding the expansion.

Pramodh Madhwa..Madhwaraj added that 24-hour power supply was assured to the people of Udupi for the sacrifices they made for the installation of 1,200-mega watt UPCL project.   He went on to say that as per the details procured, the power theft was also minimal in Udupi and the energy minister had consented for 24-hour power supply to the people of the temple town.

He added that Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JnNURM) buses that were proposed to be introduced in Udupi were delayed as city bus stops were to be realigned .  MLA said that as many as 3.94 acres of land had been earmarked at Bannanje to build a new KSRTC bus station. The proposal will be put forth before Cabinet for the consent. The land has already been transferred to the KSRTC, he added.
