Udupi: MIT Professor pedals from Bengaluru to Koraput in Nine days

Udupi Jan 22, 2016: Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Application from Manipal Institite of Technology S.S.S.Shameen planned his first expedition in riding the bicycle.  He completed a target of 1,500kms which he rode from Bengaluru to Korput in Orissa in nine days. He was preparing for it from past two years and been successful.  He has completed his first leg of passion in a solo expedition which is called the “Bharath Bhraman:Ride for pride”.

Shameem proudly says that ‘Eastern Ghats was a bit tough, otherwise I enjoyed the first leg and plan many more such solo rides. My aim is to see and know the diversity of our country and do whatever I can do, while I can do it. Going around the country on a bicycle gives me a great amount of satisfaction and pleasure. Moreover, I’ll be a happy person when I have finished my entire journey, sit and look back at my achievements with pride’.

"His journey began from Bengaluru on December 18, 2015 and reached Koraput on December 26, 2015 ,via Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Vishakapatnam and Salur," he said .  He spent nights sleeping at railway stations, police stations and religious places, bus stops etc.

Professor is a Marathon runner and a great passion for running. He said that he will do his running this summer and cycling in coming December. Shameen has a strong desire to get into the Limca Book of Records with the half marathon of (21.1kms).  Accordingly he plans to do 111half marathons in 70days and he is doing at his best for it.  He calls it “Bhaag Run Project”. For which he sought details from Limca and is in Touch Athletic Associations of Udpui and Mangaluru for assistance.
