Udupi : Lady Asst Prof from Koraga community marry lecturer Dinakar

Udupi, April 15, 2015:  An exemplary marriage in Kenjur, Udupi on Ambedkar Jayanthi Day April 14,  Tuesday of Sabitha Gundmi, reputed to be the first woman from Koraga community to become an Assistant Professor marry lecturer Dinakar. The marriage ritual was held in a private hotel in the presence of relatives and friends of the couple. Ambedkar Jayanthi was celebrated at 10.30 am before marriage rituals held at 12.30 in the noon.

Sabitha is an Assistant Professor of Sociology in Mangalore University and has been serving from the last one and a half year. Dinakar is a guest lecturer in the department of Commerce in the same university.

Sabitha and Dinesh have been acquainted for at least 9 years now. Dinakar is physically challenged, his left leg was affected by polio. Sabitha, overlooked his disability sending a strong message to society that qualities of a person, surpasses one’s physical make up.

Sabitha got the position at the university after  post graduation in sociology through hard work, despite financial barriers. She has successfully cleared the National Eligibility Test. Her achievement has been featured in the documentary of Integrated Tribal Development Programme. Dinakar too, had come up the hard way. But, he made it to higher education, proving that nothing could stop one from fulfilling one’s aim, if the path is genuine.
