Use of Blackberry technology is expected to help the cops to bring about transparency and efficiency in traffic management system. Speaking on the issue, Udupi SP Boralingaiah M. B., who launched the Blackberry traffic management system, said that the system has been introduced in the urban areas of Kundapur and Udupi.

The state police department has supplied a total of 8 Blackberry units and mini printers for the use of assistant sub inspectors and sub inspectors.

The system makes traffic management easy as information on each traffic violation case that is fed into the system will be immediately registered at a Bangalore-based database. A motorist caught violating traffic laws for the third time will have his/her license cancelled automatically. The SP also said that the system is working very well in Bangalore and has already been introduced in Mangalore.

The SP also announced the introduction of CCTV cameras in Udupi by this August.
