Udupi In-charge Minister Pramod Madhwaraj wants Mannupalla Lake to follow ’Pilikula’

Udupi, Dec 27, 2016:  District In-charge Minister Pramod Madhwaraj desired that Mannupalla Lake should be developed like Pilikula in Mangaluru is developed to attract visitors in large numbers every day.

  Speaking at the meeting held by Mannupalla Development Committee to discuss the development projects initiated at Mannupalla, the minister directed officials from Urban Development Authority to introduce aquarium and butterfly park in 99 acres of land that is available in and around the lake.

Pramodh MadhwarajHe said as many as 2.5 acres of land in the adjacent is earmarked for the Sports departments. He said plans are being chalked out to set up adventurous sports centre in the area. He instructed the officials not to fell tree in the name of development in the area.

The minister said that the contractors, who are assigned with the specific jobs, should limit their work only to those projects. If at all they prefer taking up new initiatives, they should give a written request to the deputy commissioner and take permission. He directed the officers to shift the existing canteen in the area near boating point. Pointing out at the proposed income, the minister directed the officers to take up development projects in the area keeping in mind the revenue generated. He said gates should be put wherever required and the grass should be cut in and around the lake.
